Hajj: Gombe declares five missing
Five pilgrims from Gombe State have been declared missing in Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Secretary, Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Usman Gurama, told journalists in Mina, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday that the pilgrims have not been located since Thursday.
He, however, said it had not been confirmed if they were among victims of Thursday’s stampede where over 700 pilgrims died.

Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel
Igbinedion, paid a fine to the government.

Man Stabs & Removes His 74yrs Old Father’s Heart in Lagos
been thrown into confusion after a man, Nelson Oamen,
was said to have stabbed his father, Ehiremen Oamen, to
death during an altercation.
According to PUNCH, Nelson who reportedly fled his father's
apartment in Block 272 after the incident on Friday,
removed the septuagenarian's heart and left with it.
It was gathered that the father, said to be a retired worker in
a company in Apapa, was battling with stroke, and usually
remained indoors.
Oamens, who hailed from Edo State, is now on the run.
PUNCH learnt that 34-year-old Nelson, who did not have a
stable job, was reportedly a drug addict, and had had
violent clashes with people in the area which were reported
to the police.
Our correspondent learnt that at about 2pm on Friday,
Nelson had gone to his father's apartment and an argument
had ensued between the two.
Nelson, who was suspected to be high on drugs, allegedly
stabbed his father to death in his bedroom, and covered his
body with a blanket.
He was said to have sneaked out of the house and had yet to
be found.
Nelson's younger sister, who did not want her name in print,
reportedly came into the house a few minutes later, and
found traces of blood in the family's sitting room.
She was said to have discovered their fater's corpse on his
bed, after which she raised the alarm.
It was gathered that some neighbours and residents, who
also rushed to the room to see Ehiremen, realised that there
was a deep hole on the left side of his chest after he had
been stabbed in several places.
It was said that Nelson allegedly escaped with his father's
heart, which the residents claimed, was responsible for the
bloodstains in the sitting room.
The matter has been reported at the Ipaja Police Division.
Nelson's elder sister, who came from Abeokuta, Ogun State,
and also did not want her name in print, said the family
could not say what caused the argument between her father
and Nelson.
She added that Ehiremen had been physically attacked by
Nelson in the past.
She said, "For about five years now, dad had been nursing a
stroke, and he could not work again. So, he used to stay at
home. Nelson did not have a stable location. He just came
to the area on Friday.
"I was told that he came in through the window before
committing the act. It was his younger sister, who has a shop
in the area, and came in a few minutes later to change her
clothes, who first observed bloodstains in the sitting room.
"She then traced the bloodstains to daddy's room, and found
out that he had been killed. We have not seen any sign of
Nelson since then."
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor,
said the police were on the trail of Nelson and would soon
get him.

Pastor Adeboye had his B.Sc. in Mathematics at University of
Nigeria Nsukka[3] and subsequently got his PhD in applied

charge,[4] now claims branches in over a hundred countries,
including more than 14,000 in Nigeria.[2] Adeboye has
stated that his aim is to put a church within five minutes of
every person on Earth.[2] He is the national president of RCF
(an interdenominational fellowship in all the campuses in
Nigeria)which is under the umbrella of Christ the
Redeemer's Ministry (CRM)where he serves as founder and
president. In 2008, Newsweek magazine named Adeboye
one of the fifty most powerful people in the world.[2] He is
married to Foluke Adeboye, also a pastor, with whom he has
children.[4] he also has National and International awards
and was named among the centenary awardees of his
country in 2014.
He recently endowed 4 Nigerian Universities: Obafemi
Awolowo University,[6] University of Lagos, University of
Ibadan, University of Nigeria with Professorial chairs in

Senate President Bukola Saraki's trial for alleged false
declaration of his assets when he was governor of Kwara
State has begun at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Muslim Hassan, asked the
tribunal to issue a bench warrant against Saraki for failing to
appear before it.
Hassan faulted the Federal High Court for granting the ex
parte motion halting Saraki's arraignment.
He argued that the Federal High Court had coordinate
jurisdiction with the tribunal and as such, had no powers to
halt trial of the Tribunal.
The Defence Counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu, however, prayed
the tribunal to adjourn the case until after the Federal High
Court sitting on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Chairman tribunal, Mr. Umar Danladi,
adjourned the case till 1.30pm for a decision to be taken.

Man Catches Wife Having S3x With His Neighbour On Their Matrimonial Bed-VIDEO
All hell was let lose in Ajegunle on Saturday when a person recognized
as Udoh caught his spouse having intercourse with a neighbour in his
bed room.
The adulterous spouse recognized as Present, a mom of two children,
and the subsequent door neighbour, Chukwuka, had been making love in
her bed room, at Ojo Street when the husband, Udoh, arrived and was
hinted about what was taking place by their neighbours because the
sacrilegious relationship was public information although Reward and
Chukwuka thought that they had been discreet.
Udoh was stated to have peeped by means of a gap within the window and
noticed Chukwuka having intercourse along with his spouse.
A neighbour who recognized himself as Joseph Enang disclosed that
instantly Udoh noticed Chukwuka on high of his spouse, he screamed:
"Abasi mbong!" and rushed to the door the place he screamed the
identify of his spouse, Reward.
Udoh was stated to have tried to interrupt the door of his bed room
when his spouse Reward opened it and he dashed in however Chukwuka
escaped via the sitting room door.
Enang stated Udoh was on the lookout for his cutlass below the
mattress when Present escaped from the home.
Enang stated,
"When Udoh picked his cutlass and got here out in search of each
Present and Chukwuka, they had been nowhere to be discovered. Udoh bit

Olusegun Obasanjo
said he left in the
national treasury over
N287bn, made up of
$2bn, £100m and
N10bn in cash and
property, being the loot recovered from the late dictator,
Gen. Sani Abacha.
Obasanjo left office as President in 2007 after serving two
terms of eight years and handed over to the now late former
President Umaru Yar'Adua.
The N287bn figure was arrived at using an average exchange
rate of N125.88 to a dollar in 2007 and an average exchange
rate of N247.99 to a pound in the same year.
The former President said the funds were paid into the
treasury through the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Obasanjo's revelation was contained in the Vol. II of his
memoir, My Watch. His take on the Abacha loot is slotted
under the sub-heading "Recovery of looted funds" on pages
494 and 495.
He said, "In total, by the time I left government in May 2007,
over $2bn and £100m had been recovered from the Abacha
family abroad, and well over N10bn in cash and properties
locally. All were paid to the public treasury through the
Central Bank.
"Enrico (Monfrini, a Swiss lawyer) told me by the time I left
government that if he continued to get support for his work,
there was still about $1bn he believed he could still recover
from the Abacha family and cronies."
The former President said that there was a time he got a
report that £3m cash was seized from an agent of the late
military dictator by customs officials at an airport in UK and
that the British authorities asked the Nigerian government to
prove ownership of the money.
He said the British government however refused to release
the money to Nigeria despite showing details that it was
taken from the CBN.
"I went to London to have a meeting on another important
issue with (former British Prime Minister) Tony Blair and I
took the opportunity to raise the issue of the £3m, using the
Yoruba anecdote of the thief who stole palm oil from the
ceiling cupboard by getting somebody to help him so as not
to spill the red palm oil on himself or the floor. The man
who assisted became an accomplice. Tony got the message
and the £3m was released to Nigeria the following day,"
Obasanjo stated.
A former finance minister in the Obasanjo administration,
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, told The PUNCH last year through
her Special Adviser on Communication, Mr. Paul
Nwabuikwu, that contrary to reports that the sum of $2bn
was recovered from the Abacha's loot, only $500m was
recovered under her as Obasanjo's finance minister.
The minister made the clarification amid differing figures on
the actual amount recovered.
For example, the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, had in
November 2006, in London, said Abacha looted over $6bn
from Nigeria and that $2bn of the loot had been recovered.
He mentioned same figure in the same month during the
12th International Anti-Corruption Conference in Guatemela
and later in Dakar, Senegal, at the 2nd Annual High Level
Dialogue on Governance and Democracy in Africa.

Department of State Service, The PUNCH learnt
authoritatively on Sunday.
Those already said to have been screened as nominees for
President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet also include a
former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and a
Lagos-lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).
Also on the list are a former Chief of Army, Lt.-Gen.
Abdulrahman Dambazu (retd.); an ex-chief executive of the
Federal Inland Revenue, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru; a
former finance commissioner in Lagos State, Mr. Wale Edun;
and a former National Legal Adviser to the defunct Congress
for Progressive Change, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The PUNCH learnt that the screening of the nominees had
been concluded on Friday. Buhari had last week at a press
briefing in Accra, Ghana, that he would name members of
his cabinet this month.
Our correspondents gathered that some of the nominees
had appeared before the DSS.
None of the names on the list however confirmed that they
had been screened when our correspondents contacted
them on Sunday.
It was gathered that they had been instructed not to leak
details of their screening to the media.
''What was done was not physical screening but mainly
background checking," one of the already-screened
nominees told one of our correspondents late on Sunday.
Multiple sources within the All Progressives Congress told
our correspondent on Sunday that Falana was favoured by a
camp in the party to emerge as the Minister of Justice and
Attorney-General of the Federation.
A top APC chieftain said the Vice President, Prof. Yemi
Osinbajo and the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola
Tinubu, had convinced Buhari to appoint Falana.
Tinubu and Osinbajo were said to have told Buhari that
appointing Falana, who he jailed over 30 years ago, would
boost his image as a 'converted democrat.'
It was, however, learnt that Malami was being favoured by
the President.
A source within the party added power blocs within Falana's
home state, Ekiti, might not be disposed to the choice of the
human rights lawyer because he is not a member of the
APC.
The APC has three former governors in Ekiti State: Niyi
Adebayo, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi.
An APC top official said, "Falana has already been screened
by the DSS. However, Buhari is closer to Malami who is from
the North."
Sources within the party also told our correspondent that
Utomi, a renowned economist and former presidential
candidate of the African Democratic Congress, had been
screened by the DSS and the police.
Utomi, who is now a member of the APC, was one of biggest
critics of former President Goodluck Jonathan's government.
It was learnt that Edun, who served under former Tinubu as
Lagos State governor, had also been screened by security
agencies.
It was learnt that Edun was being considered to emerge as
the Minister of Finance while Utomi for Minister of Economic
Planning.
Sources within the party told our correspondent that Tinubu
convinced Buhari to appoint Edun based on his antecedents.
He said the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service,
Babatunde Fowler, Edun and Utomi might be given the task
of reviving the economy.
A source said, "Oil prices are dwindling and Nigeria will need
to diversify but in the short term, increasing the nation's
Internally Generated Revenue is the key. Tinubu explained
to Buhari that when former President Olusegun Obasanjo
withheld Lagos State allocations, Edun and Fowler helped to
ensure that the state's IGR increased exponentially.''
It was learnt that Odimegwu, was nominated by the
President.
Odimegwu fell out with former President Goodluck Jonathan
when he openly criticised the Federal Government. He had
resigned and then travelled to the United States.
Two weeks to the March 28 presidential election, however,
Odimegwu openly supported Buhari and called him 'the best
man for the job.'
Odimegwu is also close to former President Olusegun
Obasanjo.
Oyinlola, a one-time secretary of the Peoples Democratic
Party, defected to the APC shortly before the Osun State
governorship election and he is a close associate of
Obasanjo.
Repeated calls made to the telephones of Odimegwu and
Utomi were not responded to.
One of the nominees who picked his call, simply said, "I
don't know if screening has been done or completed."
Another nominee, who pleaded anonymity, said, "Although I
have met the director-general of the DSS twice, I don't think
such visits could be regarded as screening.
"I understand the service has done its research on
ministerial nominees. For now, nobody is sure of anything
until the names are announced."
In his reaction, Oyinlola said he had not been screened as a
ministerial nominee.
He said, ''To the best of my knowledge, I have not been
called. May be they called others, not me."
The former governor, however, said he was one of the nine
persons, whose names were submitted to Governor Rauf
Aregbesola – as a ministerial nominee – having been picked
by his senatorial district.
The PUNCH learnt that the report of the DSS screening would
be sent to the President this week.
A top DSS operative, who confided in The PUNCH, said the
agency had conducted extensive checks on the nominees,
including their financial transactions and their records with
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the
police.
The Special Adviser (Media) to the President, Femi Adesina,
had on Wednesday told The PUNCH that security screening
"is naturally a behind-the-scenes matter."
The DSS could not be reached for comment on Sunday as it had yet to
appoint a spokesperson.
The PUNCH had on Thursday exclusively reported that the
DSS had commenced the screening of ministerial nominees
sent to it by the President.
