Can You Predict What The Official JAMB 2016 Cut-Off Mark Would Be?

The 2016/2017 JAMB official cut-off marks
for Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges
of Education are expected to be
announced June 2nd 2016 as earlier
announced by JAMB.

Going by the inadequacies that marred
the conduct of the 2016 UTME and the
consequent outcry by many candidates
over poor UTME scores, one cannot help
but wonder what the cut-off marks would be this year.

While we await the official announcement, this thread is for
2016/2017 UTME candidates to predict what would be the
possible JAMB cut-off marks this year for Universities,
Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

Primary School Student Reportedly Turns To Snake On Assembly Ground

The shocking incident happened earlier in the week at Bulawayo,
Zimbabwe as students ran helter skelter after the sudden appearance
of a snake during school assembly.

The incident left many of the students injured in the ensuing
pandemonium.

Speaking about what actually happened, a reliable source told
Zimbabwean media outlet, B-Metro : "It's not really clear what caused
the children to run away from school because there are two different
versions; both involve a snake.

" When they were at the assembly point, it's said one pupil fell down
and started moving like a snake resulting in teachers and pupils
scurrying. "Some pupils claim it was a real snake and they ran away
after seeing it.

"Others just screamed and followed the rest," he said. The incident
caused the school management to cancel school lessons for the day.

Dan Moyo, the Education Director of the province is yet to confirm the
particular school where the incident took place as he said he had not yet
received the report from the school headmaster.

Federal Government Makes Moves Towards Improving Educational Sector

The commissioner said the state government had not
been satisfied with performance of the students and
making this move is the best way to make the right
changes to the educational sector.

The Enugu State government » is making moves towards
solving the issue of poor performance of students in the
state during external examinations.
The Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Eze, while
confirming this in Enugu, said the government had
introduced a uniform end-of-session examination in all
schools in the state to check the continuous poor
performance of students in external examinations.

He added that the state government had not been satisfied
with performance of the students and making this move is
the best way to make the right changes to the educational
sector. »

Eze alleged that the situation could be as a result of teachers
who are not committed to their jobs.
"We have observed that many teachers no longer cover their
curriculum for the term and when they fail, students will be
at a disadvantage. Therefore, we have introduced a
mechanism to monitor those who renege in covering their
curriculum and this transcends both public and private
schools. We shall commence uniformed end-of-session
examination from primary three to Senior Secondary three
in all schools across the state from next academic session,"
he said.

Eze said that the state government was poised to providing a
befitting learning environment and had awarded contracts
for the construction and renovation of 300 classroom blocks
across the state.

100,000 E-books Now Made Available To Nigerian Varsities

Nigerian universities now have access to over 100,000 e-
books which were made available by the Nigerian
Research and Education Network (NgREN).
Executive Secretary, National Universities
Commission » (NUC), made this disclosure at the formal
donation of a -four- million dollar worth of e-content to
Nigerian universities.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),
EBSCOHost, a multinational Information Communication
Technology (ICT) firm, made the donation on Thursday, May
26, in Abuja.

Okojie said that by accessing these resources, Nigerian
universities and research institutes will be part of more
collaborative efforts that would facilitate accreditation of
programmes.

Nigerian universities were urged to utilise the resources
which were made available on the NgREN » at no cost until
the end of 2016.

"The NgREN has secured access to all EBSCOHost e-books
collections and seven EBSCOHost research databases among
which is a full text e-journal.

"Others are periodicals and magazines of several academic
disciplines and professional specialisations.
"These resources contain more than 100, 000 high-quality e-
book titles, 27,100 full text journals, 18, 430 indexed and
abstracted journals, 9,041, 400 cited references, daily
updates and 630 videos with transcripts and related articles.

"This will in fact, grow the number of available resources in
the nation's university libraries and as a result, heighten
research activities among institutions in the Nigerian
University System (NUS).

"In addition, it will improve the ranking of Nigerian
universities,'' he said.
In her remark, EBSCOHost's Vice-President (Sales), Mrs
Collen Mills, said that access to e-content could raise the
quality of education.

7 Countries Where University Education Is Free

In Nigeria, the cost of education is steadily increasing,
causing thousands of students to rethink their options.
All hope is not lost, however, as these countries offer
free varsity education.

We cannot deny the fact that the cost of education in Nigeria
is steadily increasing. It has become financially challenging
for thousands of Nigerians whose aim is attend and
graduate from a reputable University in the country.

If the only option you have left is to study abroad, then you
might be facing an even bigger problem, unless you choose
to study in any of the countries » below.

1. Brazil:
Brazil's universities charge registration fees,\ but they do not
require regular tuition. Many of them also offer courses in
English.

2. Germany:
Germany has 900 programs in English, and is eager to
attract foreign students to tuition-free universities due to the
country's shortage of skilled workers.

3. Finland:
Finland doesn't have tuition fees but the government does
warn foreigners that they have to cover living expenses.
Studying there means you only have to worry about room
and board.

4. France:
France does charge tuition – but normally around 200
dollars at public universities. A far cry from what you'd
normally pay in some varsities here.

5. Norway:
Norwegian students, including foreigners studying in the
country, do not have to pay any college tuition
» . Be
forewarned, however, of the harsh winters and high cost of
living.

6. Slovenia:
If Eastern Europe is more your thing, Slovenia has 150
English-language programs, and only charges a registration
fee – no tuition.

7. Sweden:
Sweden has over 300 English-language programs. Although
college there is free, cost of living may be pricey for
foreigners.

Shocking: Varsity Students Plan To March Nake’d

Students from the Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University
(NDU), on Saturday, protested the indefinite closure of the university
following the inability of the state Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson to
pay backlog of workers' salaries.

The aggrieved students in a statement by the spokesman, NDVM, Mr.

Wisdom Adike, threatened to march na ked with their books and block
the entrance to Government House if after a week the stakeholders failed
to settle their rift and open the university.
It will be recalled that the lecturers of the institution, had on April 28,
2016, proceeded on an indefinite strike. As of the time the lecturers
commenced their strike, the state government was owing the lecturers
and non-lecturers of the NDU four months salary arrears as they have not
been paid since January 2016.

The students, under the aegis of the Niger Delta Visionary Movement,
also criticised other students' bodies such as the Student Union
Government of NDU, National Union of Bayelsa State Students and the
National Union of Izon-Ebe Students, describing them as puppets.

The spokesperson said: "We wish to bring to the notice of the general
public, that the strike embarked upon by the ASUU, NDU chapter, on
April 26, 2016, over nonpayment of salaries, have led to the shutdown of
the institution for over one month now.
"This development has continued to give parents and students great
concern.
"Niger Delta University being the only state owned university is a legacy
institution established by the late Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who
was recently laid to rest. The institution has not only helped in meeting
the manpower needs of the state but the entire Niger Delta region and
beyond.

"However, we wish to express our displeasure over the lingering strike
and government's attitude towards resolving the situation. The strike has
increased hardship, made students to sit idle at home and lose focus on
their academic pursuit, as well prolong their academic programmes,
thereby causing youth restiveness and society unrest."

"We also call on the Ijaw Youths Council to stand up, break their silence
and defend the legacy of the Ijaw nation by ensuring the immediate
reopening of Niger Delta University. This is because now is the time to
protect our common heritage.

"We are also using this medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari
to intervene in his magnanimity and benevolence in salvaging the state
from the current economic crunch and hardship as parents and guardians
especially in the local governments of the state have not received salaries
for over 12 months, despite the release of bailout funds by the Federal
Government.

"Finally, we want to urge all students to remain calm and embrace as all
available non-violence means will be utilized to end this strike and
return to school," he added.

Teacher Flogs 4-Year Old Girl Mercilessly Because She Did Her Class Work Wrongly

Omg! Someone just alerted the public about this on instagram.

He said the girl is the daughter of his neighbour and her mom has been
crying ever since this happened. According to him, her teacher, pictured
right, flogged the 4-year old girl mercilessly because she did her class
work wrongly.

What is however more heart-breaking is that the owner of the school is
backing up the teacher. This girl will be in pre-nursery considering her
age. Who beats pre-nursery pupils? Why are they in school in the first
place if it is not for them to learn? So why flog her so bad to the extent of
leaving her with a red eye? If this is true, the right authorities must close
down LYDIA SPRING PRIVATE SCHOOL.
The school shouldn't exist. No student should be there. This is just so
heart-breaking. How the poster reported it after the cut and two more
photos of the pupil.

Please I need this to go viral and it's so disturbing , I saw this kid and
tears rolled down my cheeks . The lady at the top right corner is that kids
teacher , she flogged her mercilessly just because the 4 year old girl did
the class work wrongly , the teachers name is Mrs eno , the proprietress
name Mrs lagunoke and the school is Lydia spring private school.

Popo street tejuosho yaba Lagos . The little girl was flogged to the eyes
she now has a red eyed due to the Cain which entered her left eye. She's
had swollen and reddish skin due to the flogging . This is mean , no one
should do this to little kids while trying to teach them at their respective
schools . Upon all this , Mrs Eno the perpetrator and the proprietress
named Mrs lagunoke are not feeling any remorse for the action . Please if
there's anything you people can do for them to pay for their actions I'd
be so glad.

The little girl's mom is a good friend and neighbor, so it hurts to see this
woman cry everyday as the little girl cries in pains . Thanks for your
help !

Comedy Is My Calling : MC Yannist Abandon SUG Race

Written By Ileh Joseph Osahon, Edited by Destiny Doubra Jackson

An aspirant for the 2016/17 Student Union Government(SUG) election in
Auchi Polytechnic, Ehimen Favour(Mc Yannist) aka the craziest
comedian, has withdrawn from the SUG election race schedule for
second semester.

This was made known in an interview he granted WapjuniorTv through his
facebook account yesterday.

According to Ehimen, "he said he want to concentrate on his career as
a comedian, adding that contesting for a position in the SUG is like a
distinction student carrying an "expo" to the exam hall".

In his words he said that, 'he don't know if he will be a better
Entertainer, if he involve Politics into his career as a comedian,
stating that he wants to be a pure Entertainer'.

Reacting to the exit of MC Yannist from the SUG race, SARAH OFUNNE(not
her real name) a student from the Business Administration HND1
applaud his effort, she added that others aspiring for the position
but lack the capability or may be distracted by other engagement while
carrying out their duty to follow the foot step of MC Yannist.

She was of the view that the SUG is now an avenue for students to gain
free accommodation, money and other benefits attach to the position
and called for candidates who can't deliver to give room to those that
are capable, this she said is because students do not want someone who
will go and represent them for his/her own selfish interest just like
the previous SUG in Auchi Polytechnic.

Mr Monday a Banker( Ex-Polytes ACcountancy 2013/14 session Auchi
Poly)was of the view that crediable and brave candidates should be
given the chance to lead the students, he recalled how he was
defrauded by one lecturer(Name withheld) in Campus2 3years ago on
Admission Processing, he reported the issue to the past SUG, who did
nothing nothing about it, but rather told him to forget about the
money, due to fear of carry over .

Meanwhile, The resumption date for Regular students (morning) has been
postponed, 12th of June has been scheduled for resumption.

University Of Ibadan Pays Sum Of N30million For Just 8 Hours Of Electricity – VC Reveals

Read below as shared by UITES:
Having carefully listened to Prof. I. A. Olayinka's interview on
Diamond FM this morning, I can only conclude that age, education,
experience, riches, power or bulgy eyes does not make you a man of
integrity.

Our vice chancellor has displayed what truly should be considered as
gross misconduct by lying to the General Public. He has misrepresented
lots of facts, and I feel the Students Union owes it as a duty to release a
rebuttal statement on all the issues raised in that interview.

1. He claimed that the University pays about #30million for 8 hours of
electricity, but the truth is that months back when we used to have an
average of 18 hours power supply, the monthly bill as published in the
school bulletin was about #27million. His statement / analysis on the
issue of power supply was completely misleading and should be
corrected.

2. He claimed that students take to the street to protest whenever there
was a football match, and no power supply for us to watch the match.
But the fact is that for all the protests staged during his tenure as Vice
Chancellor, non was preceded by a football match. Another statement
made to mislead the public.

3. He claimed that Mote went to mobilize students from other higher
institutions around Ibadan and Oyo state. Well he's going to have to
provide proof of evidence for that one sha.

4. The VC said that Mote confessed to TAKING PART in the protest,
and that letting out your grievance is not an offence under the
constitution of the FRN. Then he needs to explain why taking part in a
protest was interpreted as gross misconduct. And also, the school
management needs to clearly define what should be considered as gross
misconduct, because it seems that any act that questions their
competence could be translated as 'gross misconduct'. I wouldn't be
surprised if I am also charged for 'gross misconduct' after posting this.

5. Also, the vice chancellor claimed that academic activities is still on,
despite the fact that students are not in school. Abeg, what exactly is
going on in school? Research? Inaugural lectures? Then like our Union
President once said, let them change name of the school to 'Ibadan
Institute of Research'. We would then see how many lecturers would
still get their 'thinking' allowance.

I chose not to talk about his comments on NANS, because everything
he said clearly shows how ignorant and uninformed our Vice
Chancellor is.

I implore fellow students of this albeit great University to disregard the
lies told by our Vice Chancellor, and uphold the truth.

Thanks

Students CRY OUT Over Certificate Delay

Over 500 students who had Bachelors' Degree in Education at the Ekiti
State University in affiliation with Michael Otedola College of Primary
Education (MOCPED) Epe, Lagos State, on Thursday condemned the
institution's management over its refusal to release their certificates.

A female graduate who spoke with NL registered her
displeasure against the university management. She noted that for
sometimes now, the school has been running things haphazardly, without
considering the interest of its students.
While narrating her story, she said: "I graduated from MOCPED since
May 2015, without any result to show as a graduate after spending four
good years with huge fees. Often times, we contacted the main campus,
and their habitual response is always that, our affiliate campus owes
money and nothing can be done until the existing debt is cleared.

"In February, the main campus took to the press, to publish it in a
newspaper that, our campus owed a lot of money. Each time we question
our host school (MOCPED Epe Lagos State), their response is always
nothing but deceit and vague promises.
"Our admission letter bears 2014 as the graduating year, but this is 2016
and we have not had anything, we are just a graduate with no certificate."
the student added.
The students, however, urged the institution and the state government to
look into their issue.

Security Guard Electrocuted In Edo State(Photo)

A middle-aged man, simply identified as Benjamin, has been
electrocuted in Benin, the Edo State capital.
It was learnt that the deceased was a security guard in the building
located on Federal road, in Egor Local Government Area of the state.
He was said to have assisted some bricklayers working within the
building when the incident occurred.

An eyewitness explained that the deceased had attempted to disconnect a
borehole from electricity supply when he was electrocuted on
Wednesday.

The incident attracted sympathisers, who gathered to catch a glimpse of
the corpse, even as some of them cried as a result of the circumstance
leading to Benjamin's death.

According to a source, the victim was rushed to the Central Hospital in
Benin, where he was reportedly confirmed dead.

A resident in the area said that Benjamin died before he could get any
medical attention.
"People were shouting; we thought a snake or a rabbit was being killed.

When we came in, we saw that someone had been electrocuted.

"We took him to the hospital, but before we got there, he gave up. He
was working with the bricklayers."

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Osifo Abiodun,
were not successful as calls put across to his mobile phone rang out.
But the brother of the deceased, Randy Mandi, who expressed shock over
the development, said that he was told that other workers in the building
fled when the incident occurred.
He, however, noted that the matter was reported to the police, saying, "I
was informed that my brother was dead. When I came around, I saw him
(deceased) on the ground.

"When I asked about the bricklayers who were working in the building, I
was told that they ran away. Now, we are looking for them. We have
called the police."

4 Ways Of Making Money Online With Smartphones – Click Here!

I'll show you ways of making money online with your android phone as a
Nigerian Student. Don't worry, the options listed here have been
verified and can be trusted.

Making money online is one thing that so many internet users want to
do at one time of the other. Or who don't want to make so extra cash?
Many articles had been written in the past on how to make money online
but they are mostly focused on the use of computer systems to access
the internet and make money than the use of mobile devices. It is
therefore important to discuss how to make money online using
smartphones as the primary tool for online jobs. The internet is now
been accessed more through the use of mobile devices than the regular
computer system. According to a report released in the year 2014,
about 60 percent of all internet connection is done over mobile
devices. This is a reflection of the improved capabilities of the
mobile devices like smartphones, phablets and tablets. Personally, I
believe the emergence of Android and Apple IOS are contributing to the
increased use of mobile devices over personal computers.

Making money online is not as easy as most people want it to be. So
many internet users believe that with the correct secret, you can
begin to earn top dollar with little or no hard work. I am sorry, but
I am yet to have access to such secrets. The only secret I have been
able to discover involves the hard work and dedication of the course.
Once the mind is set to work hard, there are numerous ways whereby you
can earn online using your mobile devices.

The 4 Ways Of Making Money Online As A Student With Android Phone:

1. Blogging
Blogging is one of the sure paths to making real wealth from the
internment. I use the word "wealth" because blogging can bring you
great riches. The two major blogging platforms available at the moment
are; wordpress and blogspot. You can download the android application
for both from the Google Play Store. I have used both on my smart
phone and with a few trick; you can get almost all your blogging jobs
done over the two mobile applications.
Blogging has become harder to monetize with the popular Google Adsense
and if you are playing for it, I will advise you to get ready for a
hard journey ahead. You can check back for my article on how I blog
using my android smart phone alone.

2. Android Application Development
Most people are not aware that they can quickly and easily build a
simple Android application. They usually felt it takes rocket science
to build an application for their Android smart phone. You can build a
website based application in less than 2 hours. I build the GSMGist
Android application in less than one hour " you can download it here".
Or build one from Appsgeyser if you have a website or a blog too. You
can make money by placing your finished application of Google Play
Store, Amazon App Store or even on the Appsgeyser market. You can sell
you application or make money by running advertisement on the
application using Admob or any other mobile ad services.

3. Freelance Jobs
This is the most popular means of making money from the internet. A
lot of websites make available jobs you can do to earn a token into
your account. The jobs come in various forms like filling a form,
registering on a website, writing an article or even interpreting
website content into another language. A good and reliable example is
microworker but you can check online for other sites. Payments are
mostly small but when accumulated for a period, it becomes something
of significance. You can collect your earnings through popular online
payment platforms. Apart from having mobile sites, which you can
access on your smartphones, you can access the standard website using
a very good mobile browser on your smart phone.

4. Social Media Promotion
You sometimes wonder why somebody you know is building up his number
of friends on Facebook or doing everything to increase his followers
on twitter. It is mostly based on the desire to engage in social media
promotions. A lot of media organizations are ready to pay you to use
your social media accounts to send out their messages. Like an
endorsement, you promote their products and services to
the general public using your accounts. The scheme is mostly common to
Twitter and Facebook accounts. This is another easy task you can
undertake using your smart phone alone and you will be paid well for
doing a good job.
Warning and tips: I need to warn you that not all the websites or
companies offering jobs can be trusted. Some will always find a way of
cheating you and they might avoid payment altogether. Before you sign
up with any organization, kindly read other people reviews of the
organization performance.

20 English Words To Avoid When In Other Countries

Lola Bailey Reveals 20 English Words To Avoid When in Other Countries

If you travel abroad frequently for work, or if you have an e-commerce
store with customers from all over the world, it's worth noting that
there are a number of English words that, phonetically, don't work in
other countries and can lead to double entendre or unintended offence
territory. Here are 20 of them to help you ensure that your
communication isn't lost in translation.

In France
"Preservative" Avoid asking about preservatives in France; you'll
probably be met with strange looks. It means 'condom' in France.
"Bra" Do you sell luxury underwear? Whilst you and I might initially
understand the word to mean a garment that covers the breasts, if
you're in France your French colleagues might think you're selling
arms. Literally.

In Norway
"Pick" If you're visiting Norway, don't use the word 'pick'. Your
Norwegian colleague is unlikely to be impressed – it means 'dick' over
there.
"Fitter . Does your business specialise in fitness products? Be
mindful that in Norway, the word 'fitte' refers to a woman's genitals.
In Turkey
"Peach" Going to Turkey? Avoid asking for a peach in the supermarket
or anywhere else for that matter. It means 'bastard' in Turkish.

In Germany
"Gift" 'Never look a gift horse in the mouth', we're told; perhaps
more so in Germany where the word means 'poison'.
"Latte" In Germany, latte doesn't mean the frothy, milky concoction
you get from your local Starbucks. It means 'erect penis' in some
German quarters.
In Korea
"Salsa" Out for a Mexican in Korea? It's probably best not to ask for
salsa: it means 'diarrhoea' in Korean.

In Sweden
"Speed" Try not to talk about speed when in the company of others in
Sweden. It means 'fart'.
"Bump" If you've had the misfortune of a bump on your car, note that
the word 'bump' in Swedish means 'dump'.
"Speed bump" Put the above two words together and you have the phrase
'speed bump', which in Swedish means fart dump.
"Kiss" If you ask your Swedish host or hostess for a kiss, they might
very well direct you to the toilets. In Swedish, the word means 'pee'.

In Portugal
"Pay Day" If you're in Portugal, refrain from singing with happiness
that it's 'pay day'. No one will be impressed. In Portuguese it means
"I farted".
"Exquisite" Extend a compliment to your Portuguese host by describing
something belonging to them as 'exquisite' and you might be met with
askance looks: 'esquisito' in Portuguese means 'weird'.

In Hungary
"Cookie" If you're visiting Hungary, whether on business or for
pleasure, avoid asking for a cookie. It means 'small penis' in
Hungarian.

In Japan
"Jerry" It's perhaps a little late for Ben & Jerry's ice cream, but if
you're in Japan, avoid using the word – it means 'diarrhoea' over
there.

In Italy
"Tremendous" Refrain from boasting about the tremendous prices you
offer your clients. In this country, 'tremendo' is the word for
'terrible'.

In Netherlands
"Bill" Asking for the bill might raise a few guffaws in the
Netherlands: 'bil' means 'buttocks' there.
"Lager" It might confuse your Dutch colleagues if you were to ask for
a 'lager' when having a few drinks with them after work. Lager means
'storage' in Dutch.

In Spain
"Cool" The word cool is too close for comfort to the Spanish word
'culo'; a crude term for 'bum'. Best avoided.
That some words can be misinterpreted not only has relevance for those
who frequently go abroad on business, but as Tictail point out , also
for online businesses where 'borderless' transactions take place. So
if you've often wondered why your "exquisite Madagascan chocolates"
fly like hotcakes everywhere in the world except Brazil and Portugal,
perhaps you now have the answer: weird, dodgy chocolates just won't
sell.

Petrol Challenges:- Nigerian Student Comes Up With Solution To Fuel Shortage

Nigerian petroleum engineer Chinedu Onyeizu has developed a policy and
technology-based solution to the country's fuel crisis.

According to Vanguard, Onyeizu, who is currently a postgraduate
student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), said that
the strategy would require unbundling the downstream sector into 3
strategic modes namely: Downstream-Upstream node, Downstream-Midstream
node, and Downstream-Downstream node.

The three-node approach, according to him, is policy-based and would
require critical enablers, which include "locating new refineries at
operational bases of producing companies; collaborating with
International oil companies and indigenous producers to operate the
refineries while NNPC (Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation)
positions itself as a non-operating partner with oversight functions
(and) provides 100 per cent funding for the construction of these
refineries…"

The technology component is the user-friendly mobile application
'Petrol-Solve 1.3', which will provide "real time monitoring of fuel
volumes and for product distribution network management from the point
of vessel loading to end point –filling stations," reported the Daily
Trust.
Onyeizu said that using this strategy he could solve in 12 months the
long-time fuel scarcity problems that have been confronting Nigeria.

He would like to have an audience with Nigerian President Muhammadu
Buhari and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resource Ibe Kachikwu
to further discuss his proposal.

10 Questions To Ask A University If You Want To Study Abroad

Studying abroad may be one of the most beneficial experiences for a
college student. By studying abroad, students have the opportunity to
study in a foreign nation and take in the allure and culture of a new
land. Studying abroad seems prostrated when you don't have necessary
information about the school you want to study, probably because you
did not ask or you did not know what to ask.

Don't really know what to ask a university? Don't waste this
opportunity. Below are some things you really should enquire about
when deciding where to study abroad.
As you may know, you can ask a university any questions which you have
about them by clicking on the 'Contact institution' button whenever
you see it on our site. This way you can begin a conversation with
them; let them get to know you; and obtain all the information you
need to make an informed decision about where you study.
But what should you ask?

It can be easy to simply ask about the scholarship opportunities they
offer. However institutions receive hundreds of such enquiries, so
your message won't stand out. The more unique or personalised your
question or enquiry, the more likely it will resonate with the
university staff member who reads it; it will be something different
from what they see normally.

There are a lot of other things you should be asking. Just think of
everything which you would want to know about a university you might
be studying at (especially one in a completely different country from
your own).
Here are some ideas to get you thinking about what you may ask…

Here are Questions To Ask A University If You Want To Study Abroad

1. 'Where can I live?'
Do you know what accommodation the institution offers? Is this
accommodation on or off-campus? How expensive is this accommodation
and what's included? Are you guaranteed a place in on-campus
accommodation in your first year? What support is there to find
accommodation off-campus?

2. 'What's the international student body like?'
What proportion of students currently enrolled are from overseas? What
countries do these students come from? Are there many students from
your own country? If so, are there any specific clubs or societies
which are tailored to students from here?

3. 'How is the course taught?'
Is the course taught through lectures, lab work or seminars? How many
students are in these classes? What is the structure of a normal
lecture/seminar? Will you work independently, or with one or more
students as part of group-work? How many hours can you expect to spend
on campus each week? Does this include face-time with your professors
in their office hours?

4. 'What would you study specifically on a course?'
Can you get some specific details on the material you'll be studying
i.e. specific authors or cases? How much depth would you go into? Do
you get to choose the modules you take? Or is there a core curriculum
which is mandatory for everyone?

5. 'What have previous graduates on this course gone on to do?'
Does the university have any notable alumni in your field? Perhaps
someone famous who you look up to? What companies or organisations are
these alumni now working for which you might be able to apply to later
too? Could you get work experience with one of these companies or
alongside one of these individuals? Are there any unusual paths which
graduates have gone down which might not be obvious?
See Benefits of Studying Nursing Degree Abroad

6. 'What should I study if I want to study at a higher level later?'
If you have aspirations to study at postgraduate level or a further
study level, what should you study before that (i.e. at undergraduate
level)? What courses does the university offer which you could study
which would allow you to make this progression? Are there pathways or
pre-masters courses available?

7. 'Can you confirm the application deadlines?'
When are these deadlines? Are there different deadlines for students
from different countries? What are the deadlines for scholarship
applications for these courses? What do you need to provide by this
date?

8. 'What's the local area like?'
Why should you study in that region? What are the main attractions? Is
there much of a nightlife? How easy is it to get around by public
transport? Is it a major student town, or a mix of ages and
backgrounds?
Student Visa Application: Official Do's and Don'ts

9. 'How can the university help me find employment after I complete my course?'
Does the university have links to local, national or international
industries or organisations? Are any of these in the same field as
you're studying? Is there a careers department or service on campus?
Are there are opportunities to complete work experience or practical
work as part of your course?

Choosing Course Of Study: 5 Career Factors To Consider...

Choosing Course of study to pursue in the higher institution is
synonymous to making a career decision. This is because most graduates
eventually become like the programmes they have studied several years
in the past.

Is your main reason for going to university to boost your employment
prospects? Over 60% of this year's applicants told us it was, so we
asked them which specific career factors were most important to them
when it came to deciding on a course of study…
Here's their top five, along with some tips on how to make sure you
find your ideal course – make sure you also read the full report on
how 2015's uni applicants made their choices .

1. Graduate employment rates
Graduate employment rates was the top career consideration for this
year's uni applicants when choosing a course – most applicants told
our Course Adviser it was important. Some universities in the country
has a track of having graduates from that school in almost every
industry, company or establishments. Applicants like such schools as
they feel it will guarantee them a bright future.

2. Links between the university and employers
Links between universities and employers was next on uni applicants'
priority list – Majority of applicants, especially those in the
Engineering Field said that it was an important factor in their
decision-making.
While some universities are well linked with certain oil-based
companies, vocational industries or employers, other universities,
others are often recognised for their academic research and teaching
style.

3. Reputation for a certain degree
A university's reputation for offering top degrees in a particular
field or vocation was another key consideration for applicants –
although very few said it was important.
Some universities may rank highly in the various reports for a
particular subject area – though others could be well-regarded by
employers in specific areas, but not feature in the upper reaches of
the tables. Chat to a careers adviser or your subject teacher to get
any insider tips or recommendations on this. To understand this
better, Covenant University Graduates have reportedly
performed well in all PRESSID Scholarship Examinations for consecutive
three years!

While we admit that these are not the only factors to consider while
choosing course to study, research has shown that they have noticed
influence in the manner students decide on programmes to pursue in the
higher institution.

Top 5 Hardest University Courses

Although we are talking about top 5 hardest University Courses, it's
worthy of note that there's no such thing as an "easy" course of study
in the tertiary institution. Despite the promises of online diploma
mills, there simply is no shortcut to a university degree.

Whether you're pursuing a part time degree or at a traditional full
time course, getting a real university education takes a significant
investment of time and effort. Anyone who tells you it will be easy is
either ignorant or lying. We have made some research, and here's our
list of top 5 hardest University Courses you can study in Nigerian
Universities.

Engineering
Congratulations Engineers! Now you finally have some proof for what
you've been telling everyone all along: yours is the hardest major.
From chemical to civil to electrical to mechanical, the courses you
take in chemistry, physics, calculus, statistics, geology, biology,
and other tough prerequisits give you the lowest rate of As and the
highest rate of Cs for any major. Because of this, the path to
becoming an Engineer has a notoriously high dropout rate not just in
Nigeria, but elsewhere in the World – even in Harvard !

Life sciences
It's a rare student who doesn't find at least one or two concepts that
trip him up in cell biology class. The life sciences include anatomy,
biochemistry, neuroscience, biology, genetics, zoology, and more
tricky subjects, landing this field just behind engineering on the low
GPA spectrum. Many graduates of a life sciences path go on to careers
in the medical, dental, or veterinary fields, which famously require
as many as five to six or eight more years of difficult schooling,
internship, and residency after a bachelor's degree is earned. Ask
anyone reading Vet-Med in UNN and he will brief you!

Business & management
You may think what your boss does is not difficult at all, and you may
be right; a degree in management is probably not what makes this
category a difficult one. It more likely lands here thanks to the
challenges of getting a degree in finance or accounting. Either way,
information shows that well below half of business and management
students are able to pull off a 3.5 CGPA or above during graduation,
and they average the second-longest amount of time in which students
complete their degrees.
Don't miss this: 20 best courses with highest employment rate in Nigeria .

Physical sciences
Physics, chemistry, and geology all fold into this major, making it
one of the hardest courses in the University. With the lowest
percentage of students able to work full-time and the fourth-lowest
rate of students with GPAs over 3.5, majoring in this field proves to
be a challenging undertaking. And the uphill battle doesn't end after
graduation. A glut of graduates, a poor economy, and a move toward
cleaner energy has created a troubling outlook for chemistry
graduates.

Social/behavioral sciences
This category seems to be a popular choice for students seeking an
easy A, but they could do so more easily by picking something else.
The social and behavioral sciences encapsulate what are sometimes
known as the "soft sciences": psychology, economics, sociology,
anthropology, and political science. Although they are much more
closely related by GPA to some of the easy major entries than they are
to engineering, the social and behavioral sciences house the
fourth-lowest number of full-time workers and are tied for shortest
median degree completion time.

Now what's your course of study?

Easy Steps To Raise Your GPA On Every Semester And get 5.0GP

With all the efforts people made in the course of preparation, they
still felt baffled about their semesters' results. Why?. Don't worry,
I have brought to your door steps some solution and ways to take
abscond from this melancholies that trouble your mind. Don't worry,
this semester will be different from the pasts. I just want you to
follow this packed write up, and you give a great testimony. I had a

lot of experiences concerning this issue of studying and results. That
is the input which is the preparation and the output which is the
results. When it comes to academics, your outputs don't depend on you
inputs. That is the result got doesn't solely depend on the
preparation for the studying.

I have brought to you ways we can obtain a 5.0 GP each semester. Not
only the current one. Its applicable to all other semesters.

The first thing I will talk about is splitting your study time into
smaller ones. Before I explain this better, we all know the constant
saying we think its an advice. Reading for 6 hours non stop. For
where? for me, I don't do that and I can't. It would have even
splitted this six hours into smaller hours like 2 hours then have
enough breaks in between instead of reading for the whole of 6 hours
and not able to get a thing, its just a camouflage and intimidation,
kind of. Split your reading time into smaller time so as to relax your
brain. It needs rest. Don't force your brain to understand. Allow it
to assimilate normally. You can do it. This one of the ways to attain
a very good result or grade.

Secondly, you need to have a devouted area for your reading. A
conducive place than enhances quick understand. Admit the fact that
reading on bed is a wash.

Don't read in the kitchen
Don't read in the toilet
Don't read on the bed
Don't read on the road
Don't read on a playing ground.
Don't read in a noisy area and places full of distractions
Don't read in your friends

Some people feel comfortable while reading on their beds. No, you are
not devoured by doing this. Seriousness has to speak as well. Your bed
can never be a conducive area for reading, also reading along the road
is nothing by kind of mental disorder. You are causing yourself
nothing but distraction. Let me even list examples of place we are not
to read.

The third thing is planning. I believe you know the saying ' When you
fail to plan, You plan to fail ' though its more inspiring than that
but I just frame it. Plan your daily routine. Being a student, nothing
should disturb you except when you engage yourself in extra curricula
activities. Planning is very essential. Work with aims. Read your
books aiming to assimilate them and not to look the pictures. Plan
your time as well. Don't use your time for reading for gossiping and
partying. Also don't read when your are to play. All work no play
makes...a dull boy.

And lastly, you should study actively, your feading should not be
fluctuating and occasional. Not reading days with a week interval, no
its not done this way. Study actively and don't forget the popular
formulae SQ3R. Hear are the meanings;

1. Survey : read with the aim of knowing what the book(s) entails.
Surveying is a reading technique that need you to read through.
Doesn't deal with deep thinking about the context.

2. Questions : Ask yourself question on what what you have read so
far. Take time to do this. This is the part most students don't take
good care of. Attempting questions makes you to know your weak point
and makes you in raring your ability.

3. Read : This technique requires more seriousness, reading is what we
all know. While reading, deeper meditation has been put into action
here unlike surveying which is more or less like taking out the main
points. Reading time should be different from time given to other
studying techniques.

4. Recite : yes, dont wonder. I know we are not in primary school. But
have you ever thought of how those primary schools' pupils read and
recite a lot of poem? That what we called recitation. It helps too.
Practice brings about perfection.

5. Study all over again. Reviewing makes you give answers to those
questions you couldn't get and makes you touch parts not yet
understood.

In conclusion, getting 5.0 is always what every student hope for and I
believe by reading this, you would have know certain steps that guide
this. And concerning the SQ3R, its a studying technique. Make good use
of each technique. Don't skip any one. Everything constitutes to being
outstanding.

See 7 Secrets Guild Of Scoring 280 And Above In JAMB Exam

It baffles me a lot whenever I meet with Jambites who struggle to
score barely 200 in JAMB. I begin to ask myself, "What is so difficult
about JAMB that lots of students struggle with it?" From my findings,
I discovered that lots of students are not knowledgeable about how to
pass JAMB and pass it very well.

It is not as difficult as most students think. As a result of this, I
decided to come up with this seven secrets which are discussed
beneath;

1. Set a Target
Personally, I believe that there is nothing impossible that one cannot
achieve. In scoring 280 and above in UTME exam, the first step is for
you to believe you can achieve and set a target on the score you want
to have in the end of the day.

Overtime, I have observed that most students do not have a specific
score they want to have in the JAMB. All they do is just to read
without a specific target. However, I always encourage Jambites to set
very high score as their target. Setting a target will help you to be
focused on what you want to achieve in the exam.

2. Study smart
It is not all about studying hard; it is about studying smart. Kindly
get the JAMB syllabus and past questions, studying closing to identify
the core topics JAMB often repeat year in year out. If you can study
those topics very well, I think the job is half way done. Also,
understand your study pattern and not emulate friends. I used to have
friends who loved drinking lots of water whenever they were studying.
Hence, it is left for you to learn to study smart in preparing for the
exam.

3. Practice
I remember practicing my JAMB past questions up to a point where I
knew almost all the answers off hand. I had different forms of past
questions for every of my subjects. What I am trying to point out is
it is very important for you to practice very closely especially the
JAMB past question because it will expose you to the patterns of
questions set by JAMB. Also it has been proven over time that JAMB
repeats questions from previous years. You can be fortunate to come
across such questions during your exam.

4. Do not cheat
The prevalent thing among Jambites is relying on different forms of
examination malpractices to score very high in the exam. But
unfortunately for them, they end up having very low scores despite the
exam malpractices.

If you want to indeed score 280 and above in JAMB and eventually gain
the much-desired admission, stay away from exam malpractices before,
during and after the exam. Funny enough, majority of courses taken by
year-one students are topics selected from JAMB syllabus. So if you
fail to study now, if you still encounter those topics even after you
gained admission through the back door.

5. Rest
I know this point may seem unnecessary to you, but it is of great
importance if you truly want to perform very well in your UTME exam.
The problem most studious students do have is their inability to set
out time to have some rest. The human brain is often stressed a lot by
constant study.

Hence, it is advisably for you to always take intermittent rest. It
looks so funny to me whenever I meet students who study all night a
day to their JAMB exam. To me, such study places sheer pressure on
them. A day to your JAMB exam is for you to take out time to rest and
ruminate on what you have studied over time.

6. Gist with Friends
The popular saying that 'no man is an Island' is applicable in this
situation. As a jambites do not isolate yourself. Make friends with
fellow Jambites and exchange ideas with them because you can never
know everything on your own.
However, do not make friends with the dullards who would draw you back
all in the name of making friends; make friends with those you will
learn a great deal from.

I remember when I was preparing for JAMB in 2011, I encountered a
group of guys at the public library where I used to study. These guys
were very intelligent and I learnt a lot from them.

Aside learning from friends, making good friends helps you to be
abreast with any latest rumour or news about the exam. I know a lot of
people who could have performed very well in JAMB if they had been
exposed to timely information.

7. God factor
The God-factor can never be ruled out. In everything you do, put God
first. The bare truth is you need God's direction when preparing to
score 280 and above in JAMB. As a matter of fact, such feat is
attainable even without any 'special centre' during the exam.

Personally, I do not support or encourage students to enrol for
'special centre' for exams; I always believe in merit.

How To Score Very High In JAMB/ UTME Exam

Exams are extremely stressful events in everyone's life, and the only
way to deal with them satisfactorily is to be well-prepared,
Motivation is an important factor that would help you to study well
for your exams. This is not an art or a big technique. It is as simple
as your need to feed yourselves everyday.

Scoring a high mark in the UTME exam is not as difficult as most
students think it is , it all depends on you ability to prepare well
and heed to simple instructions. This tips will guide you on how to
prepare well and achieve success in your UTME exam.

Utilize the Early Morning Hours

Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it.
~Richard Whately
It has scientifically proven that our brains work at its best during
the early morning hours. The freshness that you feel in the morning
time, can be found nowhere in the rest of the day. During the morning,
you can study some subject whichever you feel is complicated, because
the grasping power of the brain will be more during this time.

The point is, once you gain confidence in a difficult subject, you can
easily go on with other subjects and excel without much effort.

NOTE:- Don't try doing this, resting on your down comforter or trying
to study beside someone who is having a good sleep in the early
morning, because undesirable psychological effects can overtake you.

Avoid Exam Anxiety/Overcome Your Fear
One of the main reasons why students fail their UTME exams is because
of FEAR! They're not really afraid of the exam itself, what they are
actually afraid of is FAILURE!! They're afraid of the consequences
that awaits them if they fail they exam.

As a student , if you really want to pass the UTME exam , then you
must overcome your fear!!. Look at the UTME exam as a roadblock
between you and 10 million naira, remove that entity of fear in you
and push that roadblock out of your way to glory!!

Study Regularly/Everyday

Researches has shown that 60% of nigerian students don't read , which
has been one of the major reasons why the nigerian education sector
has continued to dwindle.

The brain can give out information ONLY when you input data in it , so
the more you read the more knowlege you get and that improves your
chances of passing an exam. As a student , study hard and prepare well
for your exam. Forget all the luxries and focus more on inputing data
into your brain!. Spend at least 4 hours of your day reading , read
according to JAMB's syllabus and focus more on areas where questions
are most likely to come from.

Associate Yourself with Good and Hardworking People
It is true that friends play a significant role in shaping your
career. When you associate yourself with bad and irresponsible people
who care the least about their education, it is likely that they may
rub off on you. The positive waves from good and hardworking friends,
will motivate you to study well.

Answer Past Questions Regularly

Its always good to know the area and mode at which questions are being
set, Get past questions of the previous years and try to answer them.
Get familiar with their question asking pattern. Every past question
has a 3/5 chance of been repeated. Doing this will help you a lot.
Work More On Your Question Answering Speed
You don't have all day to answer a question!.

Jamb gives you limited time to answer a question , therefore , it is
essential for you to work on your question answering speed. On average
you have about 60 seconds to spend on a question. Spending more than
60 seconds would slow you down and leave you lagging behind. Don't
delay yourself on a question , if you didn't get the answer to a
question , skip it and move on to the next question. You can always go
back to the ones you didn't do.

Choosing The Right Answer/Option In The Multiple Choice Question

This is where students fall into jamb's trap. The UTME exam is one of
the most Tactical exams in nigeria. Its is very tactical but yet easy.
The answers are somehow look a-likes. You have four options A B C D ,
and out of those 4 A And B looks Correct. The real answer is staring
at you but you're too blind to see it!. What do you do in this kind of
situation?

If you've really prepared (read alot) then it becomes easy for you. In
this kind of situation , the first thing to do is to eliminate!!
Eliminate the incorrect answers and leave your self with the ones that
are most likely to be correct.

Afterthat , look carefully at the options once more and try to relate
them to the question that was asked. You'ld definately find one that
corresponds to your question , pick that one as your answer!!.

Don't…
>> Procrastinate your course of study.

>> Keep your cell phones and other gadgets while you are studying. They consume all your time without your knowledge.

>> Get intimidated if your friends are running ahead of you.

>> Miss the lectures of good and efficient teachers.

>> Let anyone say that you cannot do it.

Thats all readers , hope you found this useful. You also need to have
luck and you need to be prayerful!.
