Students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), who reside in Grace and Mercy Lodge, Aluu community, Rivers State were thrown into pandemonium on Thursday after some suspected armed robbers invaded their hostel.
Reports gathered that the robbers invaded the hostel when most of the female students were inside. Speaking to a popular daily, one of the victim said:
“ I was in my room when one of neighbours sent me a text message that there are some people in the compound, but she doesn’t know who they are.

“I didn’t really take it serious. It was when she called me and said the same thing that I now realised the seriousness of her message. Before I knew it, some young boys with guns and machetes just stormed my room and took my money, my laptop and other things.”
“That was how they entered seven other rooms,” she added.

The students noted that some of the items taken from them include, cash, laptops, mobile phones, ATM Cards, clothes, electronics and other valuable items but no life was lost.
