quota stating that institutions that default will face sanctions.

According to him, admission by merit is 45%, catchment
area 35% and educational development in less developed
states 20%, for federal universities
While fort state universities, admission by merit is 40%,
catchment 40 % and less developed local governments get
20%,''

He further warned institutions against admitting students
into un-accredited courses in their institutions.

Breaking News!! FG Scraps Post-UTME, Pegs Cut-Off Mark At 180

ABUJA - The Federal Government has scrapped post-
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME, as a
pre-condition to gaining admission into universities in
the country.


The government and stakeholders in education sector
also pegged 180 as benchmark for 2016 admission into
universities, polytechnics and colleges of education to
improve quality of education in Nigeria.
These decisions were reached at the 2016 Combined
Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities,
Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria.

The Minister of Education , Malam Adamu Adamu, while
declaring open the meeting, said since the federal
government and stakeholders had confidence in the
examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and
Matriulation Board, JAMB, there was no need for other
examinations to be conducted by universities after JAMB
exams.

He said: "As far as I am concerned, the nation has
confidence in what JAMB is doing, the universities should
not be holding another examinations and if the
universities have any complain against JAMB, let them
bring it and then we address it.

''But if JAMB is qualified enough to conduct tests and
they have conducted test, then there will be no need to
conduct another test for students to gain admission.

“We Reject Scrapping Of Post-JAMB Exams” – Muslim Rights Concern

The Federal Government yesterday scrapped the conduct of post
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations for candidates seeking
admission into tertiary institutions.
The Muslim Rights Concern rejects the abolition of post-JAMB. It is
reactionary, myopic and irritating. It is JAMB itself that should have
been abolished.


Our position is based on the bitter experiences of Nigerian youths and
their parents over the years. Post-JAMB examination was introduced
after the general public and tertiary institutions lost faith in the national
examination body.

There were allegations of bribery and corruption being rampant among
staffers of JAMB who swapped candidates' marks for the highest
bidders.

There were also alleged cases of impersonation whereby parents who
could afford it merely bought high scores for their children who never
wrote any examination. Many brilliant candidates allegedly got low
marks.

Excellence was compromised on the altar of mediocrity. JAMB was
ruining the future of Nigerian youths.
It was the poor performance of JAMB candidates who scored amazingly
high marks but who could not justify their high scores in tertiary
institutions that attracted hue and cry.
They performed woefully after gaining entry into institutions and it was
natural for the schools to do something about it since it was obvious that
JAMB was dumping dullards in the universities and polytechnics all over
the country.

It was an alarming situation. Many undergraduates could not write a
single correct sentence. The quality of education in Nigeria was
deteriorating.

University graduates were performing woefully in job interviews and
prospective employers had problems getting genuinely qualified
graduates. The lion share of the blame for the fall in the quality of
education in Nigeria today should go to JAMB.
Post-JAMB examinations emerged as a corollary of this ugly situation.
The universities and polytechnics needed to separate the wheat from the
chaff.

MURIC is not quite comfortable with government's explanation that all
tertiary institutions were at liberty to conduct screening for candidates
seeking admission into any school because ordinary screening without
written examinations cannot be effective enough. FG should also note
that any type of screening at all must cost the institutions some money.

We call on FG to grant tertiary institutions some level of autonomy
particularly in the area of admission requirements.

FG should also stop JAMB from exposing the lives of teenage Nigerians
to danger through its early morning examinations. It is most irrational
for JAMB to slate its papers for 6.30 am in a country where insecurity is
still a far cry.

Many JAMB candidates who went out to write the 6.30 am during the
last exercise had ugly experiences. Many were forced to travel far
distances and sleep overnight in strange and unsafe places.

Two allegedly lost their lives as they were attacked by ritualists and
armed robbers. One was allegedly raped by hoodlums.
Another was kidnapped and the parents were made to cough out a huge
amount of money. JAMB must put on a human face.

In conclusion, we submit that post-JAMB examination is part of the war
against corruption. It is part of the change mantra.

It has come to save Nigerian youths from the monster called JAMB. It is
therefore JAMB that should be scrapped, not post-JAMB.

No Going Back On JAMB Result Validity Period, Says Saraki

The Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday said there was no
going back on the amendment of bill to extend the validity period of the
Joint Admission Matriculation Board examination (JAMB) result from
one year to three years.


Bukola Saraki made this known after the passage of the bill to amend the
JAMB Act on the floor of the Upper Chamber. He said: "It is technically
already a fiat accompli and senators should help the average Nigerian
student.

"It is the hope of Senate that the JAMB amendment bill will reduce
financial and psychological burdens on Nigerian students.

"JAMB has been saddled with the responsibility of ushering in young
school leavers into tertiary institutions for many years.

"However, due to several factors, hundreds of thousand of candidates
that sit for JAMB exams do not secure their admission into higher
institutions in the same year. They have to sit for same exam following
year. This is unacceptable.

"It is our hope in the 8th Senate that this amendment will go a long way
in reducing financial constraint on parents and psychological burden on
students who have secured pass mark but unable to secure admission
same year," he added.

A lot of people feel guilty after masturbating and some
see it as cheating on their partner even though the act
does not involve another sex partner. Besides, there is
perceived spiritual dirtiness associated with the act. But
the wonderful thing about masturbation is that you can't
catch a disease from yourself (or we must already have
the disease). Sexually transmitted infections (STI) have to
be caught from someone who has the infection. They
spread by rubbing of skin-to-skin or transferring of body
fluid in sex with a partner. This is a reason why condoms
protect because they prevent body fluid going from
partner to another and reduce skin-to-skin contact.

Touching ourselves for pleasure with masturbation is
something most people do especially if they don't have a
sexual partner. It's natural to feel some pent-up sexual
frustration and masturbation can relieve that. There has
been a lot of fears and claims that masturbation was bad
or a risk. But this has usually been a moral or religious
view that it is wrong to masturbate.
Herpes has to be caught from someone who has it. What
might confuse people is that herpes is usually around
the mouth but can be spread to the genitals by touch or
oral sex. But we don't usually spread our own herpes
further because our body has made antibodies to
control the virus that causes herpes.

See List Of Illegal Universities In Nigeria As Declared By NUC

The National Universities Commission recently released
a list of illegal degree awarding institutions operating in
Nigeria.


The list of these illegal universities was made available to
the public in a NUC's weekly bulletin dated August 24.
In the bulletin, the NUC Executive secretary, Julius
Okojie, warned that Certificates obtained from these
universities and colleges will not be recognized for the
purpose of NYSC, employment and further studies."

Breaking News! JAMB Result 3-years Validity Bill Passed For Second Reading

Bill to elongate validity of Joint Admission and

Matriculation Board, JAMB results to 3 years passes

second reading in the senate.

A bill which if passed will elongate the validity of JAMB
Result to 3 years from the one year it presently stands
on.


According to the official twitter page of the Nigerian
Senate @NGRSenate, the bill passed second reading in
the senate yesterday June 1st. The bill is being
sponsored by Senator Joshua Lidani from Gombe.

During the discussion on the bill, Senator Sam Egwu said
he supports that JAMB Result be extended, but that the
extension of the JAMB results to three years will cause
more confusion as most of the Universities, particularly
the government owned schools, have limited space.

Senate President Bukola Saraki spoke in favor of the bill.

The senators later voted in support of the bill and then
forwarded it to the senate tertiary education and TET
Fund committee for further legislative input.

JAMB Direct Entry Requirements For 2015/16/17

JAMB Direct Entry Requirements 2015. Direct Entry Admissions grant
entrance to candidates who have completed any of NCE, IJMB, Nursing
School, ND, etc programmes into second year of their chosen courses.
All Federal, State and Private Universities in Nigeria accept Direct
Entry for Admission, provided the candidate in question is qualified
(possessing the relevant pass grades for the program of interest).

Depending on the institution, some schools insist on upper credit
benchmark while others may be a bit liberal and may accept lower
credits.

The first step to gaining admission through DE is to first purchase
JAMB Direct Entry Form, and thereafter register online. Although 2015
DE form is not yet out on sale (as at the date of this publication),
for latest updates regarding the sale of form for 2015/2016
admissions. This particular article you are reading is to get you
informed on requirements for getting admission into any University
through DE.

Qualifications For Admission Through Direct Entry
As earlier mentioned in first paragraph, admission though DE gives you
access to 200L of your degree programme without passing through first
year. Online application is usually done via
www.jamb.org.ng/DirectEntry. To apply via this method however you need
to have any of the following qualifications:-

– Ordinary National Diploma certificate (OND)
– Higher National Diploma certificate (HND)
– GCE A Level, HSC, DALF certificate
– An acceptable Baccalaureate certificate
– NCE
– IJMB
– Institute of Chartered accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
or equivalents of these from accredited Polytechnics and colleges of education.

NB: Only students whose cumulative grade point average (CGPA) meets
the requirement for the intended course of study will be considered.
The JAMB Brochure contain specific requirements for courses and
schools. Normally, candidates who gain admission into the University
through DE start from 200 level except for a few departments/courses
in some schools that insist that DE students must start from 100 level
with UTME students.
Candidates who have any of the above requirements/qualifications and
wish to gain admission into a university degree programme through
Direct Entry (DE) are to wait patiently for the commencement of sale
of forms by JAMB. It should start hopefully after the completion of
2015 UTME. We will keep you posted.
